With so much going on during this time, our seasonal trip to North Carolina has been changed from April to October.
We will leave Port St. Lucie on October 25, 2008 at 7am. and return to Port St. Lucie on November 2, 2008.
The weather in North Carolina will be equivalent to April's temperatures. We know that the last time we went in April, we awoke to 40 degree weather, and lower! Carl promises at least those temperatures and beautiful seasonal colors! The Smokies should be alive with fall colors!!!!!
Pack those chaps, leather jackets and sweaters! You're going to need them.....
A new route has been chosen for this year. It wiped off a couple of hours by car, so it should hold true for the bikes as well. It was a scenic route, with lots to stop and see!
On Saturday, 10/25 we will stop around 4pm for the night at a local hotel in Georgia and have dinner.
After breakfast on Sunday morning, we will leave about 10am which should put us at arrival at Bates Cabins in North Carolina around 2:30pm. We will get settled, then go shopping for the weeks groceries (breakfast, dinner and snacks).
Day trips will go to the Smokin' Dragon ending at Deal's Gap, Cherokee, Gatlinburg, Pidgeon Forge, and hopefully Asheville's "Castle." We even "gem" mine, right on the cabin property! Anything you want to do, we'll try to do it!
On the return trip, we will leave NC on Saturday November 1 around 8am, stop for the night in a hotel, have breakfast on Sunday morning and arrive home around 3pm Sunday afternoon.
