I have FOUND Christmas! It is alive and thriving in Martin County.
Every year, it seems I am given the opportunity to spend Christmas with very special people. Friday, December 19, 2008 was no exception.
First, I had to find Santa. He was busy fixing and making things as he always is during this time of year. So I had to remind Santa that he had a special meeting with some very special children. As he made his way through town, he finally arrived, with me worried that he would get lost along the way.
It was wonderful to see the smiles and hear the giggles from about 23 excited children.
Walking down the long hallway, Santa began "Ho-Ho-Ho!" all the while jingling his sleigh bells.
As Santa passed the rooms where little ones laid their heads at night to sleep, he came upon a little boy who didn't want to come out of his room - even for Santa!
Santa stopped, stooped low and whispered something to the little boy. In a flash, that little boy was following Santa to the big room where everybody was waiting.
Finding a seat especially left for him, he continued to talk to the children and then got them to settle down.
Santa, reaching into his sack, would call each child by name and have them sit upon his lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. One by one, they all got their special time with Santa! After all of the presents were given out, Santa was on his way to visit more special boys and girls.
As I was sitting there, enjoying the moment and looking at the delight in the faces of these precious children, a little girl came up to me and sheepishly stated, "You're the one who brought Santa to me! You know Santa!"
Yes, little one, I know Santa!
Through the eyes of children, I have once again found Christmas!
Thank you for sharing your special day with me and Santa!

A very special note to a very special Santa:
Thank you so much for coming to visit the children today. They all enjoyed it very much. You were wonderful!
And for anyone wanting to send a special message to Santa, I know for a fact that he can be found at the Palm City Post Office through Christmas Eve.
Thanks once again, for spreading your special magic - the magic of Christmas!
To everyone:
Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas!
Feliz Navidad!
and Happy New Year!
